Alcohol, one of the oldest drugs of abuse, is a colorless liquid produced by fermenting cereals such as corn, rice, or barley. Alcohol, which produces a sedative effect, is actually a depressant in spite of the fact that most people "get a buzz" from it and tend to lose their inhibition when drinking. Alcohol is one of the oldest and most common drugs of abuse.
Short-term effects of alcohol include anxiety, slowed heart and respiratory rates, blurred vision, and poor motor coordination, which must be why we like it!
Long-term effects include cirrhosis, cancers, cardiac diseases, and any number of other irreversible neurological and psychological health conditions. So, it is important to control your drinking, to wit, be a FED and not get to the point where you have damaged yourself or others.
In the US, nearly 40% of admissions to mental hospitals and 50% of arrests are alcohol-related. If you get arrested for doing something that involves alcohol you should seek help for your problem and resign immediately from FEDS!
The minimum drinking age is 21 years in the US but lower in many other countries - as low as 16 in some. FEDS does not condon under age drinking, however we are for lowering the legal drinking age.
It is estimated that nearly 65% of all alcohol outlets sell alcohol to minors. A Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) level of 0.08 or higher in the US is considered to be intoxicated, and it is illegal to drive under these conditions. Many European countries have allowable BAC levels of 0.02.
Alcohol by volume (ABV or abv) is the worldwide measure of how much alcohol is contained in an alcoholic drink. It is expressed as a percentage of total volume.
